These are for one person; multiply for more:

  • 100g Cabbage
  • 1 Egg
  • 50g self-raising flour
  • 50g Water
  • Pinch dashi powder
  • 1tbsp soy sauce (optional)


  • Finely chop the cabbage
  • Mix cabbage and flour
  • Mix dashi, water and eggs and mix with cabbage
  • Prepare thick pancakes (~2cm thick)
  • Top with cheese, bacon, mochi
  • Cook on medium heat in a frying pan with a little oil until golden brown
  • Turn over and cook until cheese and/or bacon are crispy

Add dried seaweed, chopped spring onion and/or flaked or powdered bonito flakes, and a drizzle of mayonnaise, okonomiyaki sauce to taste.
